The pyweek competition is a week long ‘Jam’ for game developers. Where a theme is announced at the start of the competition. Entrants then spend part of their time over the next week working on a game which matches the theme.

There are no prizes in the pyweek competition. The contestants do it for fun, learning, and bragging rights. With over 100 entrants the pyweek2 competition has some very good entries.

The game we made was called Zanthor, to the theme ‘It runs on steam’. It is based in a future, mystical victorian era world. Where things are run on steam… including Zanthors robotic, steam powered castle.

Next week a delux version of the game will be released. Which will include better levels, graphics, more music, sound, bug fixes and tweaked gameplay.

Pretendpaper links with artist blogs

Filed under: Our Initiatives — Rene Dudfield @ 4:56 pm

Artist blog posts can now appear in the pretendpaper news section. This allows artists to post news onto their own websites, and have it automatically appear on pretendpaper without them having to do any other work. Pretendpaper.com is an artist community site which is made by madecollective peoples. A blog (or web log) is an online diary.
